2nd's Dominate East Riding Clash
Published: 09/02/2010

John Butler Man of the Match
Driffield entertained Hull Ionians looking to put more pressure on Sandal who are second in the league. Having beaten Hull and Beverley the 2nd’s were looking to extend their dominance over east riding 2nd teams this season.
Hardy, Bone and Morley all came into the side with Steve Watts continuing in the front row with Mike Bradshaw.
Driffield started superbly with a great kick off and moved play down field, from a line out 5 meters out Chapman barged his way over for the first score of the day, this was quickly followed by a fine individual effort out wide from Short.
Ionians stuck at it and poor Driffield finishing let them off the hook, Shepherdson was having a fine game at scrum half and Butler, Morley and Lazenby continued where they left off against Old Brod’s dominating the loose and smashing everything back in a I’s shirt.
10 NIL HALFTIME
After the break further tries from Bone, Chapman, Baldock, Short, Lucas, Morley and four conversions from Lucas gave Driffield a resounding 48 nil win.
Some of play in the second half was fantastic, forewords and back linking up all round the park and some fantastic tries were scored. The most pleasing part of the match was the concentration in defence, to nil any side in this league is fantastic. Ball retention was top class all afternoon and quick service from Sheperdson allowed the backs to run a mock.
Another fine display from Stathers, Holland and Bradshaw but John Butler was man of the match, for his superb work rate and great tackling.
Morley at home next week
