Convincing Win for Driffield Cents

Evergreen Andrew Chapman - try scorer
Driffield Cents broke their recent losing streak on Saturday with a convincing win over Hullensian Hawks. The Hawks travelled to Driffield looking for their fourth win of the season over the Cents, but Driffield were not willing to concede another defeat. The game went quickly in Driffield’s favour with a hat trick of tries from winger James Rafter, who had a fantastic game going on to score twice more before the end of the match. The Hawks were unable to make their mark on the game and by half time Driffield Captain James Green and past Captain Andrew Chapman had both added to the tally of tries. Full back Joe Shepherdson converted three of the five tries giving Driffield a 31-0 advantage going into the second half. Driffield’s domination continued in the second half with tries from Steve Baker, making his Driffield debut at Prop, James Green, Joe Shepherdson, two from James Rafter and a self converted try from fly half Dan Watson. Shepherdson converted three. After sixty minutes of hard work and solid play, Driffield began to tire and Hullensians were refusing to go down without a fight attacking well and pushing hard for the line in the dying minutes of the game, however Driffield defended well and the Hawks were unable to score. All in all, a fantastic team effort by Driffield with good supporting work from Baker (3), Norman (8) and Burdass (9). Final Score Driffield Cents 69, Hullensian Hawks nil.
