Easy Day at the Office for the 2nd's

Published: 09/03/2010

Driffield 2nd's travelled to Bridlington expecting a tougher game than
at the beginning of the season; but with Driffield's young forewords
dominating the set pieces and the backs running some fantastic lines
Bridlington's young side struggled to cope and Driffield ran out 59-6
winners.

Driffield had two debutants with Fez and Yogi both starting there first
2nd team games of the season after being promoted from the 4th's and
3rd's respectively, Watson also came up from the 3rd's after some good
recent displays.

Driffield started excellently and were soon smashing through the
Bridlington pack, both Bradshaw's, Lazenby and Norman were excellent
throughout the game and Watson, Harding and Hardy shone amongst the
backs.

Driffield put together some fine phases of play with backs and forewords
interchanging all over the pitch, Harding kept Driffield moving
forewords marshalling the pack throughout and Watson's lines of running
kept the backs running good angles.

Driffield's tries came from Fraser, Harding, Fez, both Bradshaw's and
two each for Lucas and Hardy. Lucas kicked 3 conversions and Chris
Bradshaw 4.

This was another superb victory for Driffield's 2nd's, the set piece
again was fantastic and Yogi had a good all round game on his debut, Fez
represented the 4th's with a fantastic try from 50 meters out and with
only Lucas & Lazenby over 30 years of age and 10 players on duty against
Bridlington being under 21 the future looks bright for this young 2nd
team.

Man of the match went to Chris Bradshaw who carried ball all afternoon
and tackled all game, brother Mike, Hardy and Fraser also had strong
games.

Nicholson, Anderson and Butler will all be pushing for starting spots
next week after recovering from injuries and coming off the bench; with
Travis, Booth and Stathers all hoping to return from niggling injuries
also competition for places is hotting up.

With away trips to Wharfdale and Hull and tough home games against
Ilkley, Derby and Huddersfield the season will end with some tough
rugby.

Coach Thompson will be looking for more of the same next week against
Ilkley.
