1st XV's Next match: Malton & Norton (Home) – 27th Aug at 14.30 (Yorkshire Cup)
Driffield Rugby Union Club is a member of the RFU and Yorkshire RFU, playing its senior fixtures in Yorkshire Division One. The Club's aim is to provide a safe, friendly and enjoyable venue for people to play, support and partake in the ethos of rugby union.
Driffield fields four senior teams, a colts team and mini/juniors (at every age group from Under 7s to Under 17s) every week during the season. All teams would welcome new members. Please contact the club for further details.
Training for the senior teams and Colts XV is held Monday and Thursday nights at 7pm on the floodlit pitch on Mucky Duck Lane. During July/August training nights are Monday/Wednesday.
Driffield attracts a support of some 300 to 400 people at home games and boasts one of the largest traveling away contingents in the Northern leagues.
Our club, in recent years has experienced tremendous growth on and off the field. It can boast to be one of the best clubs in the area, fielding four senior sides and over 200 children playing rugby each week enjoying a facility that is second to none.
Financial sustainability is always a pressing topic for the club executive committee. As a 'not for profit' organization we rely on our sponsors, fundraising activities and the generosity of individuals to support our programmes.
The efforts of our volunteers who devote countless hours of time and energy helps build a strong platform. This in turn provides better facilities, and in my mind, better facilities encourage more members and better players.
With this in mind I would urge all supporters, visitors and members to use our professionally managed clubhouse which is available for private hire for weddings parties, christenings, meetings etc throughout the year.
Running a modern and progressive rugby club requires expertise in all departments. Changes have recently been made in the management structure to accommodate such people who will hopefully take the club forward.
The club is rightly about the game of rugby, the components are the players and the members.
Driffield Rugby Union Football Club is 'Run for Rugby - Driven by Rugby.'
May it long continue.
In January 2002 the club proudly opened a new clubhouse. The clubhouse is the focal point for the pre and post match activities, mini & junior rugby on Sundays and numerous social events throughout the year.
On match days the clubhouse accommodates up to 120 people for a three course pre-match lunch. The diners include sponsors, supporters, ex players, visiting officials and corporate guests of local businesses.
Club dinners, social fixtures, after dinner speakers, mini & junior activities, fund raisers and sportsman's evenings are regular events at the Driffield Club.
The clubhouse is available for private hire with the club able to provide a fully staffed bar, catering and music if required. Please contact Richard Mitchell-Williams email@example.com at the club for further details
