Wednesday night sees DRUFC entertain the Under-21 Colts from Southern Districts, South Sydney, Australia.

The association between the two clubs goes back nearly twenty years, and this is the first time Districts have toured in the UK so it presented a great opportunity to cement relations.  Around 30 players have been exchanged between the two clubs over the years and it is quite fitting that one of the travelling coaches is Steve Peters, one of the original pairing who came over all those years ago coaxed by, then chairman, Andrew Kitching.

Steve, along with Michael Black who went on to play international sevens for the Wallabies, came for a year but stayed for two.  They loved Driffield so much that they have helped promote the ongoing exchange and very close relationship that we now enjoy.

Since then our first team role of honour includes many Aussies, one of whom is Craig Gray who came and  stayed permanently, still representing the first team.  A long list of young men from Driffield have gone south for a once in a lifetime experience playing rugby in Australia.

The game will kick off under lights at 6.30 and there will be a meal and social time after in the club house.  Districts will leave us on Thursday morning to take on Northampton, Bristol and Bath.
