We welcome West Leeds 1st XV and Barton RUFC to Kelleythorpe, whilst our 3rd XV travel to Marist.  A warm welcome to players and supporters of West Leeds and Barton to Kelleythorpe for today’s matches.

West Leeds arrive looking for points to help them battle off relegation, currently sitting 3rd from bottom with 47 points, 5 behind Cleckheaton and Pocklington, 3 ahead of Bridlington. With only 2 games left they need a win to have any chance of staying up.

West started the season as potential top-two contenders.  They had enjoyed a great first season in North One, finishing 3rd, 7 points behind us. However for some reason they have struggled this season. In our 1st meeting this season we came away with a 38 – 14 win. Last season it was one apiece : West took the points at our place with a last-minute score, we then won in the return fixture later in the season.

Driffield start the game following our defeat at Morpeth last weekend.  Once again the score didn’t really reflect the tight game it was : Morpeth having the lucky bounces and finishing their chances, whilst we didn’t finish the chances we created. We still have a chance of finishing in 5th position but need two wins and hope Percy Park, Bradford and York lose. We play York next Saturday.

In the league, a win for Morpeth at Consett would make them champions.  If Scarborough win at Malton they will finish in 2nd at worse. A playoff against Blackburn looks most likely for them at the moment. Pocklington and Malton need wins to guarantee survival – 1 point would sort Malton out. Pock host York.

I think the battle is between Bridlington, West Leeds and Cleckheaton. Brid are in trouble, 8 points behind Cleckheaton, and host Bradford & Bingley today and Pocklington next week. Cleck travel to Percy Park today and host Malton next week. Brid need 2 wins and hope Cleck lose at Percy Park and Malton to do them a favour on the final weekend.

Our 2nd team fixture against West Leeds 2nds was cancelled yesterday morning at 10am. Unfortunately we couldn’t find another fixture at that late notice so their season has finished.

3rd XV have a nice trip to Marist, looking to fininsh the season off strongly and head into the playoff in good form. Last week they beat Scunthorpe 3rds by 100 points.

4th XV host Barton to finish their season off

Good Luck to all
