Driffield RUFC will be holding a tournament for local businesses and teams to participate on Sunday, 18 August.

The event will help to raise awareness in the town and local community about O2 Touch Rugby.  This is a form of rugby that has a lower risk of injury but is still enjoyable and great for more senior players who can’t deal with the knocks.

We expect around 80 players, as well as family and supporters.  To help make it a great day for everyone we are holding a BBQ on the pitch-side, with a bar for easy access for the players.

We plan to have two group stages followed by play-offs. The matches will be half the time of a normal game of touch rugby, which will allows us to get it done in a day starting at 10am and finishing by 4pm. There will be a trophy presentation at the end for the winner.  Teams confirmed so far are :

  • Driffield and Wolds Weekly
  • Wolds Gym
  • Legend and Rebels Barbers
  • Curtis Woodhouse Gym
  • Driffield Health Hub
  • Harry Sheader’s Gymnastics Gym
  • Driffield Juniors Football Club

Driffield RUFC holds training sessions on a Monday evening 7 – 8:30 pm.  All are welcome as we try to build a bigger squad ready for the Hull Winter League which starts in September, and future tournaments,  You can follow Driffield RUFC O2 Touch Facebook ‘Driffield Touch Rugby’ or on Instagram.
